The SYT Promotional Advisory Committee (PAC) will provide a set of ready to go promotional materials which can be customized for your jurisdiction. This will include social media graphics, text, and sample emails. Materials will be emailed to you and accessible on this page once available.

Per WSDOT, you are allowed to use CTR funds to participate in SYT as long as you are completing the rest of the work in your CTR work plan, and your work plan includes language about participating in TDM incentive campaigns. If your work plan does not does not include incentive campaigns, you may need to update your work plan to include campaigns before using CTR funds to participate in SYT.

As described below, SYT provides large prizes as incentives. Participating in SYT allows you to access the excitement of these large prizes, which can help encourage more people to log their trips and try sustainable trip modes during October.

Jurisdictions who have their own trip logging tool can use that tool – No need for participants to make a new account or log trip in two places. This allows participants to earn prizes while maintaining their current trip logging habits, or encourages participants to build new trip logging habits that can continue on your platform after the campaign. If you use your own trip logging platform, please indicate that to the SYT team when opting in to the campaign.

Otherwise, participants will use RideshareOnline.com to log trips. Jurisdictions can request access to trip data from their jurisdictional area during and after the campaign.

Participation cost for jurisdictions is based on population. This is because larger jurisdictions are more likely to have a higher percentage of prize winners.

Pricing is different between cities and counties. Please communicate with other jurisdictions in your area to decide if you should opt-in as a county or a city.

Invoices will be processed through WSRO, payable by PayPal or mailed check. Invoices will be sent out on July 1, 2024 to be paid by August 30, 2024.

Grand prize winners will be drawn from a list of all eligible participants across the state. The top grand prize will be $1,500. There will also be smaller 2nd and 3rd place prizes, plus large donated items including an REI ebike.

Runner up prize winners will be drawn from a list of all eligible participants across the state. Runner up prizes will be no more than $50.

Each jurisdiction is guaranteed to receive one $50 prize for someone in your jurisdiction. This is separate from the grand prize and runner up prize drawings and weekly prizes.
Jurisdictions are also able to purchase additional guaranteed prizes for your jurisdiction at market rate.

There will be 3 weekly social media prize drawings. Participants can enter to win by posting a photo of their sustainable trip and tagging #SwitchYourTrips.
